Suspected swindler in custody over USD204.4m land scandal

businessman Otto Mosha (59), a resident of Dar es Salaam’s Kimara
Matangini yesterday appeared before the Kisutu Resident Magistrate’s
Court charged with illegal obtaining of land valued at USD204.4m.
The prosecution led by State Attorney Charles Anindo alleged before
Principal Resident Magistrate Respicious Mwijage that the accused
committed the offence in September 2013 in Ilala District, Dar es
Salaam.
It was alleged that in the said month, the accused, with intent to
defraud or deceive obtained a piece of land located in Mlandizi, Coast
Region from Nikolaos Diamandis Drizos who he agreed to pay the said
amount in 15 installments of USD 6250.
However, it is alleged that he served the victim post dated and un-credicted cheques.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges and he is out on bail
after meeting the bail conditions, two sureties each to submit a title
deed for an immovable property of the value of USD 6250.
According to the prosecution, investigation into the case is
incomplete so magistrate Mwijage postponed the case to February 10, this
year.
Meanwhile, Daud Adamu (46) appeared at the same court before
resident magistrate Thomas Simba charged with possession of unlawfully
obtained property.
It was alleged that on March 28, last year at Mbezi Tanki Bovu area
within Kinondoni District in Dar es Salaam, the accused was found in
possession of a motor vehicle with registration number T 101 MCA, make
BMW x6.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges and is out on bail. The case was adjourned to February 3, this year.
