Vomiting teapot’ mocked by Chinese netizens

‘Vomiting teapot’ mocked by Chinese netizens
The sculpture of a teapot pouring water into a cup has come in for severe criticism online in China. Although the design appears quite sophisticated, people have been pointing out that the tea water looks filthy.
The massive teapot, which was set up in the southwest Chinese city of Chongqing, was built by a tea factory based in the area in early 2013. According to a note provided by the factory, the teapot was upheld by a three-meter-tall water stream, linking it to a tea cup underneath.
“It looks like the teapot is vomiting badly. It is really disgusting,” one netizen pointed out. However, a picture from 2013 shows that water stream was not that murky and green as shown in the picture.
The factory explained that the water stream was actually made of cement to support the heavy pot. It is now weathered and covered with lichen, hence the disgusting look. It also said that it will maintain the sculpture periodically so the appearance can be improved.
