The lack of black nominees at the 2016 Oscars remains a big topic of discussion, as fans and entertainers alike continue to chime in. The latest rapper to take aim at the Academy is Snoop Dogg, who took to Instagram to answer an inquiry as to whether or not he would be tuning in to this year’s show. In short, his answer was “f**k no.”
“Somebody asked me was I gon’ watch the motherf***in’ Oscars,” he said. “F**k no. What the f**k I’ma watch that bulls**t for? They ain’t got no n***as nominated. All these great movies and all these great s**t y’all keep stealing from us. F**k you! F**k you!”
Snoop Dogg’s commentary may have to do with the lack of nominations surrounding the film Straight Outta Compton. While the movie is up for Best Original Screenplay, no members of the cast are in the running for any trophies. Ice Cube recently offered his own thoughts on the film’s Oscar snub during an appearance on The Wendy Williams Show. Taking the unfortunate trend in stride, Cube noted that he valued fans’ support of the film, and that he was not surprised.
“I’m not pissed, I’m not surprised. It’s the Oscars, they do what they do,” he said. “The people love the movie and the people supported the movie.”
Well it looks like Snoop is pissed for him. Watch his reaction to the 2016 Oscar nods below:
