Arsenal surge ahead of Man Utd in race to land £42m Bundesliga goal machine
ARSENAL have held tentative talks over a stunning move for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to reports.
Aubameyang has been in devastating form for Borussia Dortmund this season, hitting 24 goals in 23 appearances, and has turned the heads of Manchester United and Liverpool too.
Louis
van Gaal has already hinted at his need to bolster his attack, having
let Javier Hernandez, Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao leave in the
summer.
The Gunners' more immediate concern is to bulk up their injury-hit midfield and they are expected to announce a £7.3million deal for Mohamed Elneny next week.
But according to the Sun on Sunday, Aubameyang is on their radar.
The
report suggests a negotiator has been sent on the Gunners' behalf to
discuss a possible deal with the Bundesliga club for the 26-year-old.
A source told the paper: "An intermediary has made contact with Dortmund about Pierre-Emerick making a move to Arsenal.
"Wenger
knows the fee is very high — yet this is a striker who can make a
massive difference for him and help win the title for the first time in
12 years.
“But there is a lot of interest in him.”
