UKAWA KUSUBIRI NENO LA MWISHO KUTOKA KWA LOWASSA LEO

Chama cha Demokrasia na Maendeleo (Chadema) and the Coalition for Defenders of the People’s Constitution (Ukawa) former presidential candidate, Edward Lowassa is expected to address the nation today.

But sources have been giving contradicting reports about the event.
The move comes barely two weeks after the National Electoral Commission (NEC) declared his rival on Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) ticket Dr John Pombe Magufuli,  winner in the recent polls.

The information regarding Lowassa addressing the nation tomorrow was availed to the media through online information posted on various social media outlets and forwarded to individual email addresses yesterday evening by a freelance Nigerian journalist identifying himself as Ihechukwu Njoku.

The same information was forwarded to the email address used by one of the State House photographer Issa Michuzi: issamichuzi@gmail.com. However, the Guardian On Sunday could not independently verify the authenticity of the information.

Chadema press officer Tumaini Makene could not confirm or deny the information, saying he was not aware of the development.

The Guardian On Sunday sent this question to Makene through a text message: “We are informed that tomorrow (today) former Prime Minister Edward Lowassa is addressing the nation; Is it true?”

Makene responded: “Where and by what means?”
Through his email address chuk.njoku@gmail.com , Njoku said the former premier held talks with the prominent Nigerian pastor T.B Joshua in various occasions.

Yesterday social medial including the Youtube showed Pastor T.B Joshua with Chadema president Lowassa and his wife Regina Lowassa getting dinner at Kempiski Hotel, in Dar es Salaam in an event that appeared to have taken place on Thursday evening.

In his statement, Njoku said T.B. Joshua broke his silence on the several meetings he had held with Chadema flag bearer in the just concluded general elections since his arrival in the country mid this week.

Using the social media platforms of Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, the respected Nigerian cleric was quoted as saying, “Many times, God speaks blessing and breakthrough through pain and disappointment.

‘My dear Former Prime Minister, what has happened was to prepare you for the future. We learn obedience by the things we face. I mean, by what we suffer,” Njoku quoted Pastor T.B Joshua to have said.

Joshua caused a surprise with his failure to show up at the presidential inauguration of his friend Dr John Magufuli, especially after his high-profile arrival in the country.

Local media was awash with the news of Joshua’s first visit in the country with expectations that the Nigerian cleric might play some role in the ceremony which saw eight African states converge in Dar es Salaam.

His visit to Tanzania and meetings with President Dr  John Magufuli and opposition Chadema presidential candidate Edward Lowassa follows the long time friendship between them.

Meanwhile,  David Kisanga reports from Zanzibar that the Civic United Front (CUF) National Executive Council yesterday said they would hold a press conference regarding the isle elections today.

This was disclosed at the party’s indoor meeting which was chaired by the General Secretary Maalim Seif Sharif Hamad who also the presidential candidate in the controversial election.

Other officials who were present at the meeting included the CUF Mainland Deputy General Secretary, Magdalena Sakaya, Zanzibar Deputy General Secretary Nassor Ahmed Mazrui and other officials.
CUF is expected to issue official statement later today.

Zanzibar Electoral Commission (ZEC) chairman Jecha Salim Jecha unilaterally announced to nullification of the October 25 General Election results, citing serious irregularities, causing constitutional mayhem and protests from the local human rights organizations and the international communities.
