TRANSFER GOSSIP GARETH BALE NEWS, PAUL POGBA UPDATE
transfer gossip: Gareth
Bale news, Paul Pogba
update
Here is a round-up of the latest Man United
transfer news and gossip ahead of the summer
window opening.
Bale endured a forgettable Clasico with Real
Madrid at Barcelona
Gareth Bale is prepared to knuckle down at
Real Madrid, despite incurring the wrath of their
spoilt supporters in recent months.
One Real fan was so incensed by Bale's
Clasico performance on Sunday night he
waited outside the club's Valdebebas training
ground and attempted to kick Bale's Bentley.
Bale, 25, signed a six-year contract with Real
in 2013 and although few expect him to remain
at the Bernabeu for that amount of time,
throwing in the towel after two years would be
premature for a player who scored the winners
in both of their finals last season.
Manchester United remain keen on Bale, but
they might have to wait until next year to bid
for the player.
Juventus executive director Beppe Marotta has
conceded Paul Pogba is 'the master of his own
destiny', with the Serie A champions resigned
to losing the Frenchman this year or next.
Underwhelming news for Reds: United are
apparently one of seven clubs interested in
signing Barcelona right-back Dani Alves , out of
contract in the summer.
Prone to play-acting and bad defending, Alves
is also a dedicated follower of bad fashion.
Arsenal wanted Chris Smalling in exchange for
Thomas Vermaelen last summer and apparently
remain eager to sign the United centre-back.
United dodged a bullet by not signing Arsenal's
reserve centre-back in the summer; Vermaelen
joined Barcelona, got injured and is yet to play
for them.
It would be a surprise if United allowed
Smalling, whose deal expires next year, to join
Arsenal after the England international
recovered from his 'stupid' derby red card in
November to lead The Reds' defence to victory
at the Emirates and Anfield.
