Nene announces Sars advisory committee

Finance Minister Nhlanhla Nene on Thursday announced the seven member advisory committee to advise him on matters relating to the SA Revenue Service (Sars).

This followed his announcement in February that he would appoint an advisory committee, to be chaired by retired judge Frank Kroon, the finance ministry said in a statement. “The committee will be appointed for a period of one year and will begin its work immediately,” the ministry said.
The committee members are:
– Retired judge Frank Kroon (chairman);
– Advocate Selby Mfanelo Mbenenge;
– Chartered accountant Mmakgolo Meta Maponya;
– Managing director of actuarial and consulting solutions and public sector divisions at Alexander Forbes Financial Services Holdings, Bonga Mokoena and;
– Advocate Rudolph Mastenbroek.
Sars commissioner Tom Moyane appointed to senior officials from the revenue service to the committee.
They were current group executive responsible for audit at Sars, Jonas Makwakwa, and chief financial officer Matsobane Matlwa.
