Review: Going into this book I had preconceived expectations on how the story was going to go. I had it in my mind that it was going to be the same old boy meets girl, boy and girl fall in love, boy screws up and girl forgives boy followed by happily ever after. This has seemed to be the pattern of most of the books that I have read lately. However once I started the book I could tell that this wasn’t going to be the same old book that I had been reading.
Dream Date by Bea LaRocca tells the story from the point of view of both of the main characters Kate & Jason. Although the majority of the book is from Kate’s point of view you do get quite a bit of insight into what Jason is feeling, seeing, and doing. The story primarily takes place in Kate’s secluded home in a quiet little town New York but you do get a small glimpse into Jason’s life back in Pennsylvania. I believe that having the majority of the story take place in Kate’s small town really allows us to see the relationship between them grow a lot more than we would in the fast paced setting of a big city. Often times in books they tend to get bogged down in the surroundings and that does not happen at all in this story.
The connection between the Kate and Jason stays it’s course throughout the entire story and holds strong. If you are looking for a book that focuses on Truth, honestly, attraction, romance and a LOT of steamy sex then this story is write up your alley.
Dream Date is part of the Dare to Dream Series, and can be read as a stand alone or part of the series. However there are references in the second book to events that happened in this book, it’s not too much though and you would be able to follow along without any issue. Each book brings out a new character from the pervious book. Dream Date is the story of Kate and Jason and the sequel An Imperfect Match brings one of Kate’s best friends Claire and a new character Zach onto center stage.
This is the first story that I have read of Bea LaRocca’s but I can tell you that it will NOT be my last. She has a way of pulling you into the story by making the story line relatable to the reader. This made me be able to read the story as if it could have been my life. It was an amazing change of pace from the romance books that I had been reading as of late and I highly recommend to anyone looking for a good old fashion love story.
