President Barack Obama wept openly as he used the twilight of his time in office to make a last ditch effort to crack down on America's rampant gun culture.
Mr Obama, speaking at the White House, outlined a plan to introduce background checks for those buying weapons over the internet and at gun shows rather than at licensed dealers.
